Scuba Diving Resources for Scouts and Scoutmasters.

Recently the Boy Scouts of America added Scuba Diving to the list of available merit badges. We feel this is a great opportunity for scouts to enrich their experiences as scouts while participating in a new and different kind of adventure.

FantaSea offers the Open Water Diver course, which fulfills the scuba certification requirement for the Scuba Diving merit badge. We also offer Scuba BSA. For an introduction to scuba diving we offer Discover Scuba.

Mike West, & one of our staff members, is approved by (and registered with) the Boy Scouts of America as a merit badge counselor and will be available to sign-off requirement lists.

To help Scoutmasters and parents understand the options available to scouts and troops, we have put together a short guide to the scuba courses we offer.

Everything is Getting Warmer.

Dive Flag

We're approaching the beginning of what looks to be an exciting dive season. We have a lot of really-great activities planned (and likely some we haven't planned yet--check back for future trip announcements). We also have some some new ways to learn and share diving. All we need to do now is add water, which it seems could not happen soon enough.

It helps, though, that the ice is out around the Twin Cities.

We have surprise planned for early next month. We think it's something that could benefit any diver (meaning, if you are reading this, it will likely be worth your while), and that participating will be very easy. We will have more information on how to participate before May 1st.

The only way to know how to participate, though, will be to stay tuned to our Website. Even if it's by getting news as fans on Facebook or through our RSS Feed, stay in-touch with us to find out how to participate.

More news to arrive soon. Until then, the world around us wakes up to the Sun, and the lakes around us continue to warm…

March, 2011: Utila.

The first trip we are planning for 2011 to is Utila, Honduras. Currently, our plan is to visit early in March.

Utila lies at the south end of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, the second-largest barrier reef in the world (the largest in the Western Hemisphere). The waters around the island play host to all of the characters that normally frequent coral reefs. Utila is also a great place to see (and swim with) whale sharks.

The visibility (greater than 100') is incredibly clear, and the water temperature (close to 80° F) is warm enough that you won't want to get out of the water.

Watch our Website for the latest news on upcoming trips.

Drop-Off Serivce (with Fast Turnaround) in Plymouth and Mayer for Customers in the Western and North-Western Metro

Our Store

We realize that it can be a long drive to Burnsville from some places, especially places like:

  • Delano
  • Maple Plain
  • Long Lake
  • Maple Grove
  • Plymouth
  • Minnetonka
  • Wayzata
  • Excelsior
  • Chaska
  • Norwood Young America
  • Waconia

The drive shouldn't be a reason to forego scuba—or equipment repair. If for some reason the distance has been a reason not to visit us with equipment that is due for service, we now offer an alternative: drop-points for equipment service at locations in Plymouth and Mayer.

With drop-off we offer 24-hour turnaround service on tank refills (if you drop your tank off with us in the morning, you can pick it up from us the next day) and fast turnaround on other service.
