Looking
for one of the wildest adventures in diving? You’ve found it!
But, to become a PADI Ice Diver, you’ll need to be a PADI
Advanced Open Water Diver, or equivalent and be at least 18.
During
your Ice Diver program you’ll learn the various dive
techniques associated with ice diving and go on three open water
dives within the light zone*. Topics cover during the program
include:
- Planning,
organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards
of ice diving.
- Site
selection, preparation and hole-cutting procedures.
- Special
equipment, safety lines, signals, communications, line
tending and line-securing techniques.
- Effects
of cold, emergency procedures and safety-diver procedures.

*Light
zone is defined as within 40 meters/130 feet from the surface,
vertical and horizontal distance included.
